Final Days!

We are down to the final days....

The past few weeks have been filled with family gatherings!! We have gone to visit family, family has come to visit us! It has been wonderful! It is these special times with close family and friends that we will miss the most. Remember, all of you that have promised to come visit us in Bangalore, we are going to hold you to your word!! : )

Officially as of today, June 30, our house is sold. It is an empty feeling. We have been camping out at my parents house for the past week or so and living out of suitcases. I guess we should get used to it since we don't get our house for at least 10-12 days after we land.

Here is the challenge we will be up against.... we land on Jul 5, and we don't get our home until Jul 15/17 (and by Indian standard time we should anticipate a delay!), so we will be in a single hotel room along with all of our luggage (simple math - 2 large bags per person, plus one carry on per person, in a small hotel room = issues!!) We will send pictures of the 'close quarters' that we will be in!

Overall the mood is still upbeat. We know we will miss everyone but we are not sad. It is only 2 years, and most likely we will be back next summer.

This may be our last post from the USA! We will post once we are set up in India, from the small hotel room where we are going to be tripping over bags searching for our computer. But that is where the adventure begins....

Check out the slide show where I have added some pictures from our family gatherings over the past few weeks! Enjoy!

Good Bye Parties

Well, saying good-bye may be one of the hardest things that we have to do... a close second is the sorting and labeling and inventorying EVERYTHING in our house!!

First the Good Bye's.... We have had several gatherings to try to meet all of our friends before we head off. Mira was the first to have her party. It was a scrapbook party where her classmates and cousins came over an made her a scrapbook. I think that it will help her remember her friends and family when she is in India!

The next day was a big open house at my parents place. This was a great time to see family and friends! We were really grateful to my parents for hosting the party... it was perfect! The weather cooperated, the food was yummy, and most importantly we were able to see so many people that are very special to us at this party! Thank you to everyone that was able to make it!
Then we had a nice family party at our cousins 'resort'.
It was bonding time with our cousins.... I think that we will definitely miss these gatherings!

The parties/gatherings are still going on... neighbors, cousins, families.... it nice to have all of these social gatherings sprinkled in between all the other madness.

Now on to the PACKING.... this includes the sorting, labeling and inventorying of everything we own! The good thing is that we don't actually have to 'pack' anything - that is what the movers are going to do... this is one of the perks of a corporate move. With all of this going on, there is the compulsion to keep going out to buy more things.... seems counterproductive doesn't?

Honestly, the next 9 days (yes, that is all we have left) will be a flurry of activity! In between we will have to say good bye to everyone..... but it is really not 'good bye'.... it is more like 'until we meet again'.
PS there will be more pictures soon....

Count Down

We have booked our tickets and we will be off soon. The big day is July 3rd.It seems as though it has taken ages to get to this point. We first thought about the move to Bangalore over 7 months ago. It has taken that long for the initial discussion with my boss to materialize to an international assignment. It is only in the last 2 months that we really started to prepare for the move and now were close to counting down to our final days.

We feel excited, anxious, and sad - sometimes all at the same time. We all know that this is a wonderful opportunity for the 4 of us. We know the road ahead will have twists and turns but after the 2 years are up, I am certain that we will be greatful for the opportunity and experience.

We will use this space to share our stories and experiences. Please check often for updates and please leave your comments!!
